We are very excited to reveal the newly built website for the Center for the Advancement of Reading and Writing. As you can see, we are focusing on three important aspects of supporting excellent literacy instruction. Policy, Faculty Resources, and PK-12 Initiatives. Each of these aspects are equally important in the work we do and in the Center's mission and vision.
The Center is poised to make a real impact this year in terms of disseminating information and resources to CSU faculty, teachers and administrators, as well as the general public. The Center Co-Directors have both been part of the California Teaching Commission's workgroup for drafting and revising California's new literacy standards. The real work lies ahead for all of us who are passionate about implementing the standards effectively and integrating them into our work with teacher candidates, practicing teachers, and PK-12 students across California. Now that the standards have been formally approved and adopted, we want to ensure that all our constituents have a central source of information as well a discussion forum to exchange ideas.
We invite you to pose questions and share best practices as we move forward. We will be posting and hosting podcasts, webinars, faculty spotlights, and publications and resources around each of our initiatives. Please explore the site and let us know your thoughts.
