SB488 Resources to Support Clinical Practice
The new literacy program standard and SB488 certification requirements have a significant impact on the clinical practice experience for teacher candidates. In particular, programs are expected to provide information and development around the new literacy standards to those involved in clinical practice including clinical practice supervisors and cooperating teachers. As well, programs are responsible for communicating about the new literacy program standard and implications for clinical practice with PK-12 partners.
To support teacher preparation faculty with this requirement, we have created the following resources:
- Literacy Program Standard and TPE Informational Letter for District Partners This link will take you to an external website in a new tab.: A sample letter that can be amended as needed and shared with district partners. Some programs have been borrowing some of the language in the letter to support the writing of an MOU.
- Orientation to the New Literacy Program Standard and TPE This link will take you to an external website in a new tab.: Slides that were designed to support clinical practice supervisor and cooperating teacher understanding of the new literacy program standard and any implications for their roles in clinical practice. Slides can be amended as needed and used for professional development.
